Obituary of Joseph A. Lozito, Jr.

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Dr. Joseph Lozito, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, and doctor. He left us peacefully on November 20, 2024, just shy of 89, surrounded by family.

Joe was a man of remarkable kindness, generosity, and compassion. He dedicated his life to caring for others, both as a medical professional and as a loving family member. As a physician, he touched countless lives with his expert care, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to healing. His patients knew him not only for his medical knowledge, but for his ability to listen, his gentle presence, and his genuine concern for their well-being. He would often be found talking about recipes and restaurants with patients as he loved to both enjoy and cook a good meal.

Outside of his professional life, Joe was an extraordinary family man. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Geraldine, with whom he shared 68 years of love, laughter and partnership. As a father, he led by example—always putting his family first, offering guidance, and showing immeasurable love and support. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he instilled in his children and grandchildren the values of kindness, generosity, and the importance of family. His legacy as a patriarch will live on in the hearts of his family, who were his greatest joy. He would have given anything for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his world.

His generosity knew no bounds. Whether it was a neighbor in need or a friend facing hardship, Joe would give freely of his time, resources, and spirit. His compassion extended beyond the walls of his home and his practice, leaving a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He would open his heart and his home to all. He loved to entertain and always provide an abundance of food. Joe always loved a good party.

An outgoing and vibrant soul, Joe made friends wherever he went. He had a zest for life, which was evident in his love for the casino, the race track, and spur-of-the-moment trips. Whether it was placing a bet at the track or jumping in the car for an impromptu adventure to the nearest casino, he embraced the thrill of the moment and brought joy to everyone around him. His adventurous spirit will be dearly missed.

Joe was also a lover of life’s simple pleasures, and one of his greatest joys was vacationing with his family in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. For many years, the beach town was a special place where he and his loved ones made memories that will be treasured forever. Whether it was walking along the promenade, enjoying a family meal, or simply sharing laughter in the company of those he loved, Sea Isle City became a symbol of the warmth, happiness, and love that defined his life. His favorite spot was on his balcony with “the best view in town.”

Dr. Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and compassion. He is predeceased by his daughter Lynn Marie. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; his children, Joseph and his wife Patricia, Deborah, Donna and her husband Michael, Francine and her husband Leonard, Michael and his wife Betsy, Michele and her husband Peter; his grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Russell, Allison and her husband Joe, Melissa and her husband Chris, Lynn Marie and her fiance Sal, Gary, Ashley, Joseph, Michael, Mikayla and her husband Max, Natalie, Alyssa, Matthew, Francesca, Jake, Megan, Evan and Peyton; his great-grandchildren, RJ, Brooklyn, Matthew, Cora, Sienna, Delilah, and Baby T on the way; He is also survived by his son-in-law Bob Runz. He is survived by his sister Marie Yurillo and was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Lozito and Benjamin Lozito.  He is also survived a host of friends, colleagues, and extended family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of his love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire and guide all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family will recieve friends on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Keri-Lozito Funeral Home 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ from 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM.  Funeral Mass on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, Wayne, NJ at 10:30 AM.  Please meet at the church.  Interment, Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
