Fond memories of John, thoughtful and kind person. My Dad and I bought Marshall’s Package store in 1964 and saw John often helping his Dad work around the property. RIP

Rest peacefully, Uncle John. We will miss your warmth, kindness and humor. What I remember most about your visits down to Louisiana is how unbelievably proud you always were of Erin and John. These memories remind me to always be generous with love.
Wishing comfort and peace to your family.

John always had a warm smile, firm handshake, and genuine interest in you when he'd greet you and say, " How we doin' today?" How could I not be doin' "Excellent" around such an affable guy. It didn't matter what I'd be talking about with John, cars, conspiracy theories about Judas, or football, he was just an enjoyable guy to talk to about anything. He kept everything light and bright and was of good cheer. However, on one occasion I heard him say to someone, "Oh, I don't agree with that!" So when inclined, he'd tell you where he stood. And I'm happy to say that John once stood in my cheering section when he came out one night to see me act in a local performance. All the time I've know John he's always been in my cheering section. Our Holy Spirit family will miss him.

Johnnie was truly among the kindest, warmest people I've ever met. I knew him since I was 8, when his sister began dating my brother. We went to many happy celebrations at the Marshalls' in those days, when Johnnie would invariably be called upon to play the piano for boisterous singalongs. Over time, the Ennists and Marshalls developed relationships that went way beyond mere friendships, and Johnnie became our go to guy whenever we had an old car to get rid of or an accounting issued that needed expertise.
About 10 years ago, I decided to get my NJ boating certificate. I arrived for the class feeling a bit out of place and nervous, not having taken any sort of formal instruction in years. So when I walked in the door and saw Johnnie's face beaming back at me as a fellow member of the class, I was instantly reassured that I was in the right place at the right time. He had that affect on everyone who knew him.
Godspeed Johnnie. You will be missed, but you have earned your rest.

John's greatest legacy is his children, John and Erin. His love, kindness, and wisdom shared with them will remain in their hearts forever and make the world a brighter and better place. John was a good man and a devoted father who will be greatly missed by his loved ones. Rest in peace, John.

Johnnie has been a part of my extended family for 50 years or so. My brother married his sister and thus we got to know the family and grew close over the years. What I will always remember about Johnnie are his smile, his somewhat twisted sense of humor and the wonderful bear hugs he was so willing and happy to bestow - he always made you feel welcome and part of the family. He will be sorely missed, my deepest condolences to Erin, John, John senior, Diane, Dennis and the rest of the family.
