Was the best man on the planet. Was the best godfather a child could ever ask for. You will truly be missed and never forgotten. Till we meet again my friend. I love you your godson. Wayne

I am so sorry for your loss. Rip was a special part of our school and I enjoyed talking with him every morning before the kids arrived. He was an angel on earth and now in heaven.

Always a smile and kind words ... Never too busy to pay attention to the kids who all loved him. Will always be a part of my children's memories in Lincoln Park...

On behalf of my entire family, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Mr Van Winkle. He greeted us with a friendly smile every afternoon when crossing the crosswalk at school.. my son referred to him as Mr policeman. Occasionally we would discuss where we thought Mr policeman went after he retired, as well as what he was up to. He was thought of very fondly and will be truly missed. Rest in peace to a true gentleman.
Sincerely,
The Perry family

May you rest in Peace "Uncle" Rip. I still see you in uniform the day you came home from the war. Standing in our kitchen at 87 Main. You were a good friend of my father and now you two can care for the heavenly highways together. Thank you for all the years you cared for Lincoln Park and her residents. With many blessings, and love from myself, Aurora, Christina and Tony Moldovanyi.
