George was a friend to my husband, Tom and to me, even after Tom died. He was generous with his time, his knowledge, his help and his joy. We enjoyed many a night of game playing ( like Scrabble and other word games) with George and Verena.
George was modest in all of his achievements and complained little about his long term Crohn's Disease and its complications. He made light of his last battle with cancer and its effect on him...yes, the standard joke that he would say to me was yes, the hormones are having an effect on me.....you all know the rest.
Even though, I have moved from New Jersey, we still kept in touch and I never felt like a 3rd wheel in any of the events that he would invite me to.
I will always remember the Hunt Club's Venison Dinners and the fun we had with all... Dancing to Mony Pony...listening to the war stories for the car competitions. Oh lest I forget trying to find a restaurant that both he and Verena and Tom and I could have a meal that worked for all!!
We had parties at Tom and my place and George was always there! He had BBQ's at his place and we were always there! Tom and George built that dual deck at our home and Tom and George put a new roof on at his place. I can not tell you how many times after Tom died that George would walk me through how to start the generator and keep it going!! or when I had the septic go belly up that he talked with the various "experts" and "contractors" to help me choose what to do and who should do it.
I will remember and love my friend, George always.
