Luis Alfredo Perez Nieves Obituary

Luis A. Perez Nieves, 67, of Paterson, NJ passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born in August 1957 to Felipa Nieves and Gil Perez and raised in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Luis then began the process of emigrating to the United States in 1972 while returning to Puerto Rico intermittently to check on family. On one of these stays in Puerto Rico, he married the love of his life, Esther Perez Ramos, and started their family. They soon came together as a family in 1982 back to the United States, where they became an unwavering mainstay of their community in Paterson for over 40 years. Luis managed multiple businesses for Hector Polanco, including both the local grocery store, as well as the Laundromat for many decades before retiring and settling into being a wonderful grandfather. He is loved and respected by his neighborhood and his presence will be severely missed.

Luis was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Esther Perez Ramos and his parents. He is survived by his children, Luis Perez and Jenissa Perez-LeBron, their spouses and his four granddaughters, Tatiana, Vianca, Damaris, and Rebecca. Being a grandfather was the best “job” he ever held and was amazing at it. Luis is also survived by his dear brothers, Hector and Juan Perez Nieves. He was a loving and supportive brother – in – law and fun uncle to his nieces and nephews on both the Perez and Ramos side of the family.
