Obituary of Arlene Golabek

Arlene Golabek, 86, of Towaco, NJ, passed away on January 3, 2025, at home, comforted by her loving daughter, son-in-law, grandsons and granddaughter.  Born December 12, 1938, in Wallington, NJ she moved to Towaco in 1958.  She became a teacher and devoted 31 years of her life to her passion of teaching in Montville Township.  

Arlene cherished living in her Towaco home and spending her summers at the Lavalette beach.  There she enjoyed spending precious time with her grandsons.  From strolling along the boardwalk, bicycling and the nighttime card games, her grandsons were her pride and joy, and she looked forward to each and every summer with them. The day they both graduated as Medical Doctors was a long-awaited milestone and a special memory forever in her heart.  Then recently, the special moment she dreamed of was the birth of her great-granddaughter, Charlotte Avery.

Arlene remained very active throughout her life.  She played tennis, golf and loved to travel. She was known for her kindhearted, caring nature and always going out of her way for others. Her characteristic personality touched countless lives throughout her career as an educator and dedicated friend.  

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius X R.C. Church in Montville where she was a member of its Rosary Society.  She also was a member of the Montville Seniors.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Wanda Birscak. She is survived by her loving daughter Deborah and son-in-law Michael Gilhooley, she is also survived by her grandsons, Dr. Patrick Gilhooley and his wife Dr. Danielle Gilhooley and Dr. Sean Gilhooley and great-granddaughter, Charlotte. She is also survived by 2 sons, Robert and Nicholas.
