Claire Louise Van Duyne Moore
Claire Louise Van Duyne Moore, 96, of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Lovell, ME, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Claire was born to Halsey and Gertrude Van Duyne of Towaco on June 20, 1927, and grew up working on the family farm. She graduated second in her class at Boonton High School and attended Montclair State Teacher’s College, where she earned a degree in Education. She met the love of her life, Glenn Moore, while at BHS and they married on June 5, 1948. She taught fifth grade for 26 years and was an avid crafter. Claire was fortunate to have had good health, a supportive family, and a strong faith in God; she found beauty in all things.
Claire was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Glenn, sisters Thelma Brown and Betty Jane Diedrich, brother Kent Van Duyne, and son-in-law George Wolfson.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel Van Duyne of Reno, NV, her son Dan Moore (Nan Beury) of Bridgton, ME, her son Douglas Moore (Jane) of Lincoln Park, and her daughter Jeanne Moore of Lincoln Park. She will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many friends in New Jersey, Maine, and beyond.
A memorial service will be held on June 1 at 11:00 AM at Hope Church of Lincoln Park, 60 Chapel Hill Road, Lincoln Park, NJ 07035. Memorial donations can be made to Hope Church of Lincoln Park or Lovell United Church of Christ, 1174 Main St., Lovell, ME 04051.
