Obituary of Ruth Shirley Throp

Ruth "Shirley" Throp (nee Gustin) 98 of Lincoln Park, NJ peacefully left us to be with the Lord on Monday, November 27, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Robert Sufficool and Clifford Throp.  She was also predeceased by her parents Esther and Elwin Gustin, her brothers, Robert Gustin and William Gustin and her sisters, Arline Turner and Barbara Greenleaf.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Wayne Sufficool and his wife Terry and daughters, Phyllis O'Neal and her husband Charles (Chuck) and Susan Grzybowski and her husband Ron.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wendy Gasinski, Colleen Burrrell (Kerry), Brian O'Neal (Kara), Brad Sufficool (Vanessa), Matthew Sufficool, Andrew Sufficool (Maria) and 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

After her marriage to Clifford, they moved to Pompton Plains in 1948 where they resided until 1987 then retired to Hamburg, NJ.  Shirley moved to Lincoln Park in 2014.  

Shirley was a real estate agent for William Marcy Agency in Pompton Plains for many years.  After moving to Hamburg, she volunteered at St. Clare's Hospital Auxiliary, she was a crisis counselor at Contact Hotline, a member of the Hardyston Seniors, Hamburg Seniors, St. Jude Seniors and the Order of the Eastern Star Amore Chapter No. 176.  

Shirley was a joy to be around.  She enjoyed life, her family and her many friends and will be forever in our hearts.  Please make a donation to the Seeing Eye in Morristown NJ.  A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Keri-Lozito Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ from 3-5 PM.
