Bryan Hugh Murray, 62, of Pequannock, New Jersey passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Morristown Medical Center on October 31, 2023 following a brief illness.

Bryan was born on December 18, 1960 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic, and grew up in Montville, New Jersey. He attended St. Pius X elementary school, followed by Montville Township high school where he graduated in 1979. He completed an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164 in Jersey City, NJ. He worked for 36 years with Local 164, a third-generation union member, continuing the family tradition started by his grandfather, Thomas Christopher Murray and followed by Bryan’s father, Thomas Hugh Murray and his two uncles, Donald Murray, and Arthur Murray.

Throughout Bryan’s electrician career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to helping others. He was foreman on many large construction jobs throughout New Jersey completing those assignments with great care, organization, and concern for the workers around him.

He is survived by a son, Bryan Patrick Murray, his mother, Carolyn Quinlan Murray, four sisters and a brother: Joyce Sullivan (Neil), Michael Murray, Lynn Rodriguez (Carl), Judy Ackerman (Donald) and Colette Fricchione (Tony).

He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews including, Desirae (Ackerman) Lymber, Heather Ackerman, Kaitlin Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan, Brad Rodriguez, Amy (Rodriguez) Willcox, Gio Fricchione, Anna (Fricchione) Furjanic, and many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins who will miss him as well.

He is predeceased by his father, Thomas Hugh Murray and nephew, John Thomas Ackerman.

Bryan was a loving and caring brother who helped and comforted his siblings whenever they needed him. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to light up a room.  Bryan enjoyed repairing cars, fishing, boating, camping, and riding his motorcycle. These activities are where he found fulfillment, joy and fun especially when he shared them in the company of his many friends.

A memorial service is planned and will be announced at a future date.
