Obituary of Edward Fratrich
Edward Fratrich, 78, of Lincoln Park, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Edward was born on December 28, 1944, in Passaic, New Jersey. He moved to Garfield when he married Barbara (nee Drzewiecki), the love of his life in 1966. They worked very hard to buy their dream home in Lincoln Park in 1975 where they would raise their family. Strong in faith they became very active members at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church together. Edward was a proud member of the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Knights of Columbus Council No. 5486. He put on his Sunday best to usher at 5:30 pm Mass and was very involved in RCIA, as well as other stewardship groups at St. Joseph.
Edward was a long-time manager of Oxford University Press and had a strong passion for books. He worked many long hours to provide for his family. During his free time, he would enjoy taking his four kids on "Sunday drives" to his favorite places, which included long rides to visit covered bridges along the countryside, day trips down the shore, visits to his beloved family in the Pittsburgh area, and his favorite, which was a love of trolley cars and all things transportation. He was a long-time member of the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum and has an avid collection of trolleys and buses. Edward also had a passion for baseball and the New York Mets where he could often be caught listening to a game on the radio if not watching it on the tv.
Most of all Edward was a kind man with a generous heart. He gave without hesitation to support his family. He donated to a multitude of organizations, such as St. Judes, the Scleroderma Foundation, and the Alzheimer’s Association. In his later days, Edward was most content being at home and being surrounded by family and the things he loved the most.
Edward was predeceased by his wife, Barbara in 2008 as well as his parents. He will be terribly missed by his beloved family, Suzanne and Wayne, Michael, Joseph, Dianne and Tony, and his grandchildren Jake, Luke, Jenna, Emily, Sarah, Trae and his brother Gary and his wife Joanne.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park, NJ at 10 AM. Interment (private), St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Edwards honor to Saint Joseph’s Knights of Columbus to be used for a donation to the father English Food Pantry in Paterson.
Arrangements by Keri-Lozito Funeral Home, Lincoln Park, NJ.
