Obituary of Gary O. Foerster
Gary O. Foerster, 88, of Wayne NJ passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Gary was born in Garfield, NJ where he spent his childhood. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army and was installed in 1953. Gary married Gladys Szkiba in 1954 and was then transferred to White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico to begin his Active service in the USAR. He was decorated with The National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal and received an Honorable discharge in 1956. Gary later returned to NJ to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University whereby he graduated with his B.S. degree in 1960. While in college Gary worked full time for Alfred C. Sinn, Inc in Clifton, NJ. He later purchased the agency and established Alfred C. Sinn Excess and Surplus, Inc. He remained employed in the insurance industry until his retirement.
Gary was an avid golfer and became a member of Upper Montclair Country Club in 1964. He enjoyed his home course and he regularly traveled to experience the challenge of other courses. Gary was a kind and compassionate man who tirelessly donated his time and talent to public service. He was a Board of Trustees member of the Clifton Boys and Girls Club from 1964-2020 and served 2 terms as President. He was also a member of the American Legion. Gary loved spending time with his family; He will be dearly missed. He was the beloved husband of the late Gladys Foerster (nee Szkiba). Devoted father to Gary A. Foerster and his wife Jane and Gayle Hine. Loving grandfather of Paige Dwyer and her husband Ron, Carley Roberson, Connor Foerster and Dylan Hine and his wife Raychel. Cherished great grandfather of Revie, Amara, Devon (Meimei), Johnnie and Aaliya. Funeral Services on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Kerio-Lozito Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ at 12 noon. Entombment, Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ. Visiting prior to service on Friday from 10 am-12 noon. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Clifton Boys and Girls Club .
