Obituary of Theresa Romola

On March 14th, 2023, Theresa Romola passed away at the age of 88. She was born in Marlboro, NJ on September 13, 1934 to Dominick and Mary Meglio, but spent most of her childhood in Brooklyn, NY. She married Nicholas Romola on November 10, 1956 and moved to Pine Brook, NJ in 1968.  She is survived by her four children, Louis (Michele), Joseph (Jodi), Nicholas (Kim) & Marianne (Jim); ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her brother John & sister-in-law Eileen.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas.

Theresa worked most of her life as a secretary and an active member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.  In 2016, she received the VIVERE CHRISTUS EST Medal for her service to the church.   She chaired the Rosary Society for many years and served many other active roles. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, encouraging others through regular visits to area nursing homes to pray the Rosary with the elderly and/or infirm. Theresa's ministries also included providing meals to the homeless. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Mass, area hospitals, and nursing homes. Theresa served as president and vice-president of the PDCCW (Paterson Diocese Council of Catholic Women) and a past secretary of the Montville Women’s Club. Theresa was religious, charitable, exemplary and did not hesitate to take action when she saw a need.

Theresa enjoyed traveling with her friends and family throughout her life, leaving them with many wonderful memories. She truly loved any occasion where her family came together and expressed her love for them often. 

Viewing will be at Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ on Friday from 5-8 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St Pius X R.C. Church, 24 Changebridge Road, Montville, NJ on Saturday at 10 AM.  Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer's Association  .
