Obituary of Frances von Hassel
Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frances E. von Hassel (Veasey) passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023 at Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains, NJ. She was born on May 15, 1930 and was a resident of New Jersey for all of her adult life. Mrs. von Hassel met her soon to be husband, William A. von Hassel, and they married on May 9, 1953. She volunteered in the Lincoln Park School System as a librarian, and also volunteered at the voting polls in Lincoln Park. She was an active member of the Wayne United Methodist Church for 70 years. She was a stay at home Mom for many years guiding her children as they grew. She had an amazing aptitude for numbers and accounting and later in life she was employed as Credit Manager at Uddeholm Steel Company and at Toshiba Electronics in Totowa, NJ.
Mrs. von Hassel is survived by her beloved cat April, her two sons, William H. von Hassel of Deerfield, NH, and Glen A. von Hassel of Coatesville, PA. Mrs. von Hassel is also survived by her nieces Kirsten of Newton, MA, and Karena of Ithaca, NY, and her devoted (loving) friends Sharon and Ed Ament, and their daughters Samantha and Kaitlin of Little Falls NJ. Her husband of nearly 63 years predeceased her in 2016.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a no kill animal shelter of your choice.
