John Wagener Obituary

John P. Wagener, 83, of Towaco, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023. Born in Barberton, OH, John enlisted in the ROTC as a teenager, and upon graduating from Ohio University, was soon sent to Orleans, France, where he met and married his wife, Francoise. Following the birth of their first child, they were relocated to Fort Meade, Maryland, where they lived on base until John was called to war, spending 6 months in Vietnam before being discharged at the rank of Captain. During John and Francoise's 58+ years together, they raised their family in various places, with stints in Michigan, Maisons-Laffitte, France, and ultimately, Towaco, NJ, where they've remained since 1980. John was a loyal parishioner at St. Pius X R.C. Church in Montville, NJ, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

John's career was spent as a Systems Analyst for a few different corporations, most recently, AT&T in Morristown, NJ. His favorite job; however, was that of "Dad", and eventually, blessedly, "GrandPa".

Pre-deceased by his parents Herman and Mary Wagener, Beloved husband of Francoise (nee Domenici). Devoted father of Mark (Jennifer) of Randolph, NJ; Christine Bacci (Roberto) of Toronto, Canada, and Patrick (Amy) of Pequannock, NJ. Dear brother of Mark Wagener, Connie Donegan and the late Virginia Meeker. Loving grandfather of Jake, Eric and Ethan Wagener, Michael and Sofia Bacci, Parker and Phoebe Wagener.
