Obituary of Elaine Marie Obenhuber

Elaine Marie Obenhuber, passed away peacefully on Nov 14, 2022. Born on June 4, 1930, to Mary and Charles Martinu, she was raised in Union City, NJ and moved to Lincoln Park in May 1966. Her contributions to the town and surrounding community are many.

As a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, she volunteered on their Altar Guild, Vestry, ECW and was a 50+ year volunteer at the church’s successful Thrift Shop.

In addition, she poured her time in to the Lincoln Park Republican Club. Her home was a haven for all things Elephant. She was active in the Morris County Committee, the Morris County Women’s Republican Club, the NJ Federation of Republican Women a well as the National Federation of Republican Women. She served on the executive boards of those organizations, traveled to the White House and was named NJ Federation Woman of the Year in 2003.

Professionally she worked for Shell Oil Company, as a Legislative Aide to Senator James P Vreeland, served on the Morris County Bd of Transportation and assisted her husband, Larry, in their State Farm Insurance office in East Rutherford, NJ.

Elaine, a devoted Yankee fan, was pre-deceased by her husband Lawrence (Larry) in 2011. She leaves behind a daughter, Leigh Anne Floyd and her husband, Ray, of Wilton CT; a son, Donald and wife, Elena, of Front Royal, VA; 6 well-loved Grandchildren and 3 (going on 4) wonderful Great-Grandchildren to carry on her love of family and life of service.

Services will be held on Tuesday November 22nd at 1pm at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 9 Two Bridges Rd., Towaco, NJ, with a reception immediately following. Visitation will continue from 4-7pm at Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main St., Lincoln Park, NJ.

Elaine will be laid to rest by her immediate family at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ on Wednesday November 23rd. Donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, c/o Salaam Shrine Center 369 E Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston NJ 07039
