My dear friend, memories of you go back many years but you already know that. As I recall the times we were in each other's company especially as you counted the Sunday offerings, my heart smiles and a happy peace fills me. For me to chose words today which I hope might reflect my my true sentiments is only an exercise in futility and an unnecessary task because old friends such as we share an unspoken language understood only by those who have lived long and experienced much.
And so, instead I say to you Lila, may the angles lead you to paradise and may the saints welcome you to the home prepared for you from the beginning of time by Jesus Himself and may God be with you on your journey home. God bless + you my friend
Deacon Steve
I shall miss you

I guess I met Mrs. Deluca about the same time I met you Paul-around my first day of school ; )
I've really only known your Mom, by her being at Church worshipping God, giving to others through Church, or just giving to others, like she did to me...She was always there volunteering as we grew up, being a (much needed!) chaperone everywhere they allowed us, Den Mother in the Cub Scouts, etc...
As life goes on, seems many of us subconsciously get fed by "role models" sent to us by God. We may not even realize it. Losing my Mom in my early 20's, my heart cherished each time I'd see or hear your Mom. Her mothering heart fed everyone-not just her family. She gave me a great foundation to thrive with in life. Thinking back now, it's not so surprising the couple times I met her outside of Church, it was in settings that our paths crossed volunteering! She'd run into me at the nursing home and say: "what are you doing here?" Then she'd feed me the loving words that could only work God's wonder when coming from a truly mothering heart. She'd say: "you're such a good boy" even when I was in my fifties! Seems so corny but these are indeed actions and the words that make or (without) break a person... I'm forever grateful for her graciously fulfilling the awesome role God planned for her. May we each say yes to our mission as she did. I love you Mrs. Deluca!
May God welcome you home with widely outstretched arms!
