Obituary of Rita Bastante

Rita Bastante (nee Dentino) 88 of Lincoln Park NJ passed away Wednesday January 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in San Vito, Abruzzo Italy.  She came to the United States in 1950 where she resided in Paterson, NJ for 5 years when she met her future husband, Aurelio Bastante, at a social Italian dance.  They married on August 30, 1955, and moved to Woodland Park, NJ where they resided for 38 years before moving to Lincoln Park, NJ. She was a seamstress for H & D Inc. for 23 years retiring in 1989. She became a snow bird enjoying winters at her second home in Venice, Florida.

She was a passionate cook who enjoyed making delicious edible creations from scratch.  She specialized in cooking from fresh ingredients directly from the garden.  Some of the family’s favorite dishes included her homemade pizza, lasagna in bianca, and manicotti to mention a few.

She was the matriarch of the family and will be sadly missed by family and friends. She loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren.  We are forever grateful for her caretaker, Gabriella, who showed incredible compassion and exceptional care. 

Beloved wife of the late Aurelio and predeceased by her loving daughter Josephine Coiro.  Devoted Mother of Carmen and his wife Angela Bastante of Totowa, NJ, Lisa and her husband John Morse of Wayne, NJ and her son-in-law Vincent Coiro of Lincoln Park, NJ.  Cherished grandchildren: Michael and his wife Jillian Bastante, Vincent and Dominique Coiro and Ashley and Nicole Morse.

Funeral from Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ on Wednesday at 9 AM.  Funeral Liturgy at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park, NJ at 10 AM.  Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.   Visiting on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
