Obituary of Olga Celleri
Olga Maruri Celleri, “Granny”, left us on December 21, 2021. She was a beloved wife, mother, grand-mother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all.
Granny was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on June 12, 1924, and immigrated to the US in 1961 with her eight children. She was the matriarch of the family and a solid and loving leader who provided affection, patience, and support for all. Granny was a very formidable woman who always prioritized the needs of her family over the needs of herself. Granny worked hard to provide bright futures for her children in the US.
Granny enjoyed gardening and maintaining her home. Her family often commented that no one could maintain the lawn better than Granny. She also enjoyed travelling and visiting places like Europe, Russia, and different areas of North and South America including trips to Disney where she enjoyed going on adventurous rides well into her nineties.
Granny loved music and would enjoy beautiful Latin songs as well as Andrea Bocelli as well as playing cards with her children. She also loved to laugh and enjoy life and was never one to stay home.
Please join us to celebrate Granny’s life and memory on January 15, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln Park with a repast luncheon to follow at Sunset Grill at Lincoln Park Airport.
