Obituary of Nicholas A. Bottino, Jr.

Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nicholas A. Bottino, Jr., 82, of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Point Pleasant Beach, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 7, 2021.  He was born in Newark, NJ, grew up in Little Falls, and lived most of his life in Lincoln Park, where he was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church.  He was an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local No. 164, Newark, NJ until he retired in 1999.  He served in the United States Army from 1962-1964, and was a proud member of the American Legion Post 279 in Lincoln Park.  He was a dedicated and passionate member of the Lincoln Park Volunteer Fire Department Hose Company No. 1 for over 50 years.

Nick’s hobbies included fishing for fluke/flounder, and letting you know that “a bad day of fishing was still better than a good day at work.” Some of his fondest memories revolved around his time as a NJ Devils season ticket holder.  He loved attending games and traveling with his wife Eileen and the NJ Devils Fan Club around the states to cheer the Devils to victory.  Nick was devoted to supporting our troops, and solicited donations, prepared care packages, and shipped them to those stationed overseas.

Beloved husband of the late Eileen Bottino (nee Hopler).  Devoted father of Jeanine Stacharczyk and her husband William, and Donna DeMarco and her husband Scott.  Loving grandfather of Austin and Brielle Stacharczyk, and Angelina DeMarco.  Dear brother of Carol Knox and her late husband Sam, Richard Bottino and his wife Joan, William Bottino and his wife Jean, and the late Gerald Bottino.  He was predeceased by his parents Nicola and Agnes (nee Miller) Bottino. He was also the much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ on Friday at 9 AM.  Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park, NJ at 10 AM.  Cremation is private.  Visiting on Thursday from 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lincoln Park Volunteer Fire Department Hose Co. #1, 20 Boonton Turnpike, Lincoln Park New Jersey 07035 or the American Legion Post 279, 133 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ 07035, would be appreciated.
