Obituary of Kathleen Stasko

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Friday, March 12, 2021 Kathleen Theresa Staskso, wife and mother of 3 children passed away at the age of 83.  She was a true Irish lass who had the loveliest of smiles, a biting wit, a fighting spirit, and a heart so full of love everyone around her felt her warmth. She was the four-leaf clover of our family who brought love and luck to us all.

Kathleen was born on June 5, 1937 in the Bronx. Kathleen worked as a data clerk at Sears after she met and married her husband, Leo Stasko. She was a devoted Catholic who valued her faith so highly, that in 1964 she chose her home in Lincoln Park because it was in walking distance to St. Joseph’s Church.  Kathleen’s favorite moments were spent with her family whether it was having dinner with her children, laughing at the shenanigans of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, or talking with her siblings. Through her we know what courage, unconditional love, and faith truly look like.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Stasko, parents Garrett and Beatrice O’Leary, her siblings Patrick O’Leary and Anna Tyrrell. She is survived by her three children, Leo Stasko, Kathleen Vander Valk(James), and Mary Storms (Michael), her grandchildren Roland (Liz), Rory (Christie), Katie, and Elizabeth Vander Valk, Brandon and Connor Storms, and Jacquelyn Harter (Matt). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Logan, Evan, Rylee, Benjamin, and James Vander Valk, and Dave and Michaela Bogon, and Anthony Harter.

Visiting will be on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park, NJ from 10 AM - 11 AM.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM.  Interment will be at Our Lady of Magnificat Cemetery in Kinnelon.
