Obituary of Ann Nigro

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ann Nigro passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, twelve days shy of her 90th birthday.  She was born in Newark NJ to a large, close-knit family and resided in Bloomfield NJ her entire adult life.

Ann enjoyed working for Sears as head cashier and made many friends there.  She also worked for Lummus Corporation.  She was a bookkeeper for Alfieri and Delanno Construction companies for many years, until her retirement, well into her 70's.  After her retirement, she helped her niece run Barbara Jean Boutique for several years.

Ann loved to travel throughout her life, visiting many European countries and was thrilled to make a trip as far away as Russia.  She traveled to Italy several times, where she was able to spend time with her Italian relatives.  She also had aunts, uncles and cousins living in Venezuela and enjoyed visiting them as well.  She was an avid reader and shared many books from her large collection.  Ann loved to host family dinners on Sundays and holidays and loved baking her family's favorite Italian cookies.

Ann's pride came from spoiling her many nieces and nephews, always making sure to send birthday cards and gifts from all over the world and never failed to make a phone call when someone wasn't feeling their best.  She was thoughtful and generous to a whole host of charities, her favorite being St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Ann was predeceased by her parents, Maria (Fusella) and James Nigro, her brothers, Donato, Mario, Nicolas and Patrick and her sister Lena.  She is survived by her loving sister Jean Santoro, brother Vincent, her cherished nieces and nephews and loving friends and neighbors.

Funeral from Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ on Monday at 9 AM.  Funeral Liturgy at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park, NJ at 10 AM.  Entombment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.  Visiting on Sunday from 3-7 PM.
