Obituary of Salvatore Assante

Salvatore Assante 93, of Pine Brook died on September 27, 2015. Visiting will be at The Keri Memorial Funeral Home 125 Main Street Lincoln Park on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated on Friday at 10AM at St. Pius X Church, Montville. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Assante grew up in Lyndhurst settling in Pine Brook in 1958. He was the founder and owner of Assante Gardens of the World for 50 years. He served in The United States Army during World War II in France and Germany as a Master Sergeant and Deputy to the Commander of a POW Camp on The Rhine River. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (1954) and Marion (2014) Assante. Father of Ronnie (Trudy), Karen (Ron), Paul (Jenn), Linda (Ray) and Sal, Jr. (Karen). Brother of Alice DiMuzio and Grace Rasp. Grandfather of 13 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Sal was a big presence that will not be replaced. He gave respect and was worthy of it in return. He exuded confidence...even during times of self doubt. His determination, his pride, and that confidence, brought him success at work, respect from his peers and love from so many. Sal was truly one of a kind. He will be missed by all who knew him.
