Obituary of Hjalmar Johansson

Hjalmar Johansson age 93  passed June 30th .  A 41 yr. resident of Montville , he is survived by daughter Cynthia , grandson Erik and 3 great grandchildren.    Mr. Johansson was active in his church and a proud member of Montville VFW Post 5481.  During WW-2 , he was a prisoner of war in Germany at age 19 , after being shot down in a B-24 bomber over the Czech Republic on his first mission.  In his later years , he gave numerous talks about his wartime experiences to local civic groups and public school classes and was often invited to speak at Memorial Day events about those experiences and the importance of service to his country.   Memorial services will take place Sat. July 28th at the Montville United Methodist Church , 29 Whitehall Rd.(Rte.202) Towaco , NJ (adjacent to the firehouse)beginning at 10am for gathering and remembrances with photos and memorabilia in Fellowship Hall . An 11 am memorial service will be held in the Sanctuary , followed at noon by refreshments by the United Methodist Woman's Group. In lieu of flowers , memorial contributions  to the church in his name would be greatly appreciated.
