Obituary of Ethel E Hawryschuk

~~Ethel E. Hawryschuk 95, of Pompton Plains formerly of Lincoln Park and Paterson passed away peacefully on November 27, 2017.


Visiting will be at The Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park on Tuesday 4-8PM.  Services will be at 7 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will be on Wednesday 11 am at The Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery Arnytown,NJ.


Born to John and Amanda O'Brian on January 11, 1922 in Corning Indiana. Ethel graduated from Washington Catholic High School in Washington, Indiana.  Ethel enlisted in The Women's Army Corps during World War II and was stationed in England, Normandy, Germany and then went onto Paris for VE Day.  While serving her country overseas, she met her beloved husband Harry, who was from Paterson, N.J. Both served under General Dwight D. Eisenhower. They were married in Washington, Indiana in 1946.

Ethel worked as a Deputy Clerk for the Paterson Municipal Court.    She was a member of St. Therese Church, Paterson, The Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR), The Women's Army Corp Veteran's Association (WAC),  The American Legion Post 279, Lincoln Park, The American Legion Post 333, Paterson, The Columbiette's, Clifton, St. Joseph's Church and the St. Joseph's Church Lazarus Group Ministry.  


Predeceased by her Husband Harry, three sisters, three brothers, several nephews, and one niece, Ethel is survived by her three children Karen (Higgins) Clarke and her husband Robert of North Carolina, Kenneth Hawryschuk of New Jersey and Donna Hawryschuk of Virginia, sisters Helen Manus and Mary Ennis of Indiana.  She is the grandmother of Colleen Smarth, Theresa Daniele, Melissa Melendez, Patrick Higgins, Vincent Barbarossa, Dana Maikels, Mary and Dean Hawryschuk, and 11 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
