Obituary of Patrick D Scucci
Patrick Dominick Scucci, 88, of Pomption Plains, NJ, passed on March 5, 2018, after a long illness.
Pat was born in Lyndhurst, NJ, to parents Pasquale Scucci and Rose Cassiere Scucci. He was the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1948.
Pat served in the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas, in 1951. While there, he met Dell (Chockie) Powell, whom he married on September 20, 1953. They moved back to Lyndhurst after Pat was discharged from service, and Pat worked for Becton Dickinson while pursuing his passion for music. He was a talented drummer and rehearsed at night with his band. They recorded a song titled The Sandman.
Pat made a bold move to quit Becton Dickinson, moved to Pompton Plains in 1967, and taught drum lessons at Pequannock Music. In 1976 Pat proudly opened Haskell Music Center in Haskell, NJ. He enjoyed teaching his drum students and had longtime friendships with his piano teacher, Jackie; and guitar teachers, Dave and Jan. Pat was a band member of the Roy Russell Quartet for many years.
Pat is the beloved father of Leslie and Kevin. He also leaves behind a son-in-law, Michael; a daughter-in-law, Karen; three granddaughters, Kate, Alexis, and Kylie; sister, Mildred; and many nieces and nephews.
