Obituary of Emilio J Santoro

Emilio J. Santoro 91, of Lincoln Park, died peacefully on March 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean "Jennie" (nee Nigro) Santoro. Dear father of Barbara Santoro (Michael Sullivan), Cynthia Lacatena (Richard) and Lisa Santoro(James Gannon). Brother of Phyllis "Dolly" Rodino, Mary D'Anton and the late Louis, Michael, Thomas, Joseph and Natalie Santoro and Rose Pilla. Son of the late Joseph and Philomena Perna Santoro. Brother in law of Ann, Mario and Vincent Nigro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Santoro worked in The Steel Industry for 40 years, passionately representing his union members while successfully negotiating contracts. He also was employed at The Netherlands Christian School, Lincoln Park. He then began working for over 18 years as a scheduler at The Sunset Valley Golf Course, retiring at the age of 85. He was a long time volunteer at The YMCA in Mountain Lakes where he was named "Volunteer of the Year". He taught self defense to teens and became a lifelong mentor to many. He also was an avid golfer and loved to re-furbish and sell golf clubs. Visiting will be at The Keri Memorial Funeral Home 125 Main Street Lincoln Park on Wednesday 4-8PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be officiated on Thursday at 10:30am at St. Joseph's Church, Lincoln Park. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908 (http://www.stjude.org/) would be appreciated.
