William Mazzucco, age 73, a lifetime Towaco resident, passed away June 27, 2016. Graduate of Boonton High School, he was an engineer aide with the NJ Department of Transportation. He was a 55 year member of the Towaco Vol. FD, and held the office of Chief as well as every other “line” position. Along with the Board of Fire Commissioners, he established the Fire Prevention District #2, and was the first fire official and inspector for Montville Township. He was currently the oldest active firefighter in the department, and a member of the Montville Twp. Exempt Firemans’ Association, and served as secretary/treasurer for 31 years. He was a life member of the NJ State Vol. Fireman’s Association as well as the NJ Fire Chiefs’ Association, and attended annual conventions as a delegate for many years. For the last several years, he served as one of the Fire/Police Officer at active calls, and was currently the fire safety officer. He was a long-time member of St. John’s Lodge #1 F&AM in Mountain Lakes. He enjoyed RV-ing for many years, camping at every opportunity. He received an immense amount of pleasure ‘snowbirding’ and living at The Travel Park in Webster Florida where he made many friends. An avid NASCAR fan, he was able to attend many races each season, and enjoyed pit passes and meeting many of the drivers. He was an outdoorsman from youth, and was an avid hunter. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Donnis (nee Warnicki), his daughter Lisa of Franklin and son Keith of Towaco, his beloved grandchildren Corey, and Cheyenne, his sister-in-law Priscilla of Butler, his dearly loved nephews, Ronald and Kurt of Butler, many nieces and nephews of Florida and Maryland. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna, brothers Charles and Ronald, and his sister Audrey Newman. Visitation will be at the Keri Memorial Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ 07035, on Thursday, June 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Service will be on Friday, July 1, at 11:00 AM. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the NJ State Fireman’s Home Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ would be appreciated.
