Obituary of John J Cavanaugh

John J. (Jack), 87, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 6, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. A resident of the Towaco Section of Montville Township for 45 years, John was born in Scranton, PA to the late Daniel and Helen (Ruane). He resided in Newark and Oakland before settling in Montville. A graduate of Seton Hall University, he was a Supervisor at Ford Motor Company in Mahwah for 30 years before retiring. John served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. John will be fondly remembered as a man who was dedicated to God, his Family and the Ford Motor Company. He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters Sr. Mary Helena, SSJ, Daniel, Dolores, Nancy, and Joseph. John is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Theresa (Ciallella); his devoted children, Daniel (Bernadette), JohnJr., Cheryl, and Robert (Allison); his six cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Alissa (Justin), Daniel, Joseph, Dawonye, and Breanna; histwo precious great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Rockwell; and many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will take place on Sunday, August9, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Keri Memorial Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church on 24 Changebridge Road in Montville. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
