Kenneth V. Hammer age 86 of Rockaway passed Dec. 14th. Born in Orange he settled in Rockaway about 60 yrs. ago. Ken earned his Bachelors Degree at Montclair State U. and was a Marketing Rep. with Blue Cross-Blue Shield of NJ 35 yrs. retiring in 1989 prior to that he was an Accountant with Public Service Corp. After retirement he enjoyed driving for "MAPS". He served during WW-2 in the Navy serving as ships buglar on the USS Boston and was in Japan shortly after the Hiroshima bombing. As a musician Ken loved all music styles and was a lifetime Pittsburgh Pirates fanatic. He was predeceased by son Robert surviving are his wife Lois daughter Beth Ala and husband Richard son Kenneth E.step daughters Laurene Transue and husband Kenneth, Marcia Melancon and husband Andre, 8 grandchildren and 1 grt. grandson. Visitation at Keri Memorial Home, 125 Main St., Lincoln Park is Wed. 4 to 8pm. Friends & family will gather 10am Thurs. at the funeral home for an 11am service private cremation will follow.
