Obituary of Margaret G Smith

Margaret "Peggy" Griffiths Smith 93, of Boonton Township, formerly of Lincoln Park and Pequannock, N.J. passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017 . Visiting will be at The Keri Memorial Funeral Home 125 Main Street Lincoln Park on Sunday, January 15, 2017, 1-2PM with a funeral service at 2pm. Peggy was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on February 1, 1923 to the late Sarah and William Griffiths. She was one of eleven children in a very close-knit, loving family. On June 12, 1942 she married the love of her life, Albert Smith. They were married for 69 years until his passing in May of 2011. In 1951 Peggy and Al left Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey. The lived in East Orange for 25 years before moving to Lincoln Park and later to Pequannock. Peggy was employed for many years at Transamerica Insurance Company. She was also very active in Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of her chapter. She is survived by her loving daughter Susan Glawe and her husband Phil of Cedar Knolls, N.J.. Grandson Josh Glawe and his wife Michele of Chester, N.J., Granddaughter Sarah Casanovas and her husband Joe of Chicago, Il. Her precious and much loved Great Grandchildren Eliza Casanovas and Sean Glawe. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Guyette of Wilkes Barre, PA and her brother-in-law Blake Davis of East Hanover, N.J. and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to the First Reformed Church of Lincoln Park, 60 Chapel Hill Road, P.O. Box 335 Lincoln Park, N.J. 07035. The greatest joy in Peggy's Life was her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
