Obituary of Joan Matthews

Joan Matthews 96, of Verona died on November 4, 2015. A Memorial service will be officiated on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11am at the Keri Memorial Funeral 125 Main Street Lincoln Park. Mrs. Matthews was raised in Upper Montclair attended Lacordaire High School and continued her education at Rosemount College attending with her longtime friend Jane Skillin. She married Milton Matthews, a World War II Veteran, in 1947 and moved to Verona. She worked part time at Hahne's Department Store, Montclair. Joan was a sports enthusiast, supporting all her families' events and gatherings. She was an avid Yankee Fan and loved the summers in Lavallette. She always told people to be happy and love life! Predeceased by her parents Charles and Kathleen Maher Heydt , son Kenneth, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, she is survived by her children Douglas (Randy), Robert (Cecilia) and Diane Matthews. Grandmother of 4 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Nursing Department at The Canterbury at Cedar Grove care and Rehabilitation Center 398 Pompton Ave Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009 would be appreciated.
