Lois Heller Obituary

Lois Merle Heller (née Teibel), aged 88, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026.

Born and raised in Buffalo NY, Lois graduated from Bennett High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Buffalo.

Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband Sherry (“Sonny”), with whom she shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by two daughters, Rachel Bock (David) and Rebecca Hennings (John), and was a proud grandmother to Adam, Jonah, and Dana, who brought her immense pride and joy.

Lois worked as a medical technician at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, the manager of her father’s jewelry store, Leed's, in Niagara Falls, and a Realtor in and around Buffalo. An active community member, she was deeply involved with Temple Sinai in Amherst NY, where she previously served as president and ran the gift shop for many years. After relocating to New Jersey in 2011 to be closer to family, she sang in the community choir, edited the community newsletter, and supported the pool committee.

Lois had a big colorful presence, loved wearing hats, knitting vibrant things for herself and those she loved and spending many happy hours with Sonny collecting antiques (usually early in the morning) at flea markets, yard sales, craft shows, and antique stores.  She especially loved vacationing with her family in Rockport, MA, and the Outer Banks, NC where many cherished memories were made together.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations may be made in memory of Lois Heller to the Leonard Goodman Education Fund at Temple Shir Shalom
