Sherry “Sonny” Heller, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born and raised in Buffalo NY, Sonny graduated from Bennett High School in 1950 and went on to earn his pharmacy degree from SUNY Buffalo in 1954. 

Sonny was the beloved husband of Lois Heller (née Teibel), with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, father to his two daughters, Rachel Bock (David) and Rebecca Hennings (John), and a proud grandfather to Adam, Jonah, and Dana, who brought him immense pride and joy.

Sonny spent 50+ years as a pharmacist in and around Buffalo. He and Lois moved to New Jersey in 2011 to be closer to their family. A quiet and steady presence, Sonny had a remarkable sense of direction — family and friends could always count on him to know the way, no matter where they were headed. He especially loved vacationing with his family in Rockport, MA, and the Outer Banks, NC where many cherished memories were made together.

Throughout his life, Sonny was an avid collector of model trains. He loved tinkering, enjoyed gardening, and was deeply involved with Temple Sinai in Amherst NY, where he previously served as president.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Donations may be made to University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in memory of Sonny Heller ’54. Go Bills!
