To our family and friends...It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Deborah (Deb, Debi) Mary O'Gorman McTernan. Our beautiful daugher, sister, mother and friend, who felt life so very deeply, has left this earth in peace and surrounded by love.

To know Deb was to know her sensitive and heartfelt goodness. She was known for her small and unassuming acts of kindness. She was a dedicated culinary enthusiast that desired to always make occasions special. Debi appreciated irony and had a smart and clever wit. Our most cherished memories of Debi are when she was laughing out loud when a connection was made, often rooted in a line from an old movie or song.

Deb was born in the Bronx, NY and lived in Lincoln Park, NJ, Ireland, and Virginia Beach, VA where she boldly moved with her young daughter to live the happy life she dreamed of for them by the beach and water.

Deb is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Margaretta and father, Desmond. She is survived by her daughter, Meghan and her husband, Mikel, sister Terri, brother Brian and sister-in-law Jackie, and nieces Kelsey and Erin, and her dearest friend, Karen King.

Services to remember Debi will be held privately. Deb will be cremated and laid to rest in her beloved Virginia Beach. Sunflowers were her favorite, renowned for turning their heads to follow the sun. When you see a sunflower, think of Deb. In her honor, in lieu of flowers or donations, Debi has requested that her family and friends around the world help another person to live in their light by telling them that they are seen, worthy and loved, and importantly, that they matter.
