To all of our family and friends...  Margaretta McKeown O'Gorman Jenisch died at the age of 90 on March 14, 2026.  Our incredible, beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, friend, sister and person has left this earth peacefully with love in her heart and her faith in God. 

To know Margaretta was to know her kindness, humility and empathetic spirit. Everyone who met her never hesitated to comment on her elegance, sweetness and beauty both inside and out. 

Margaretta was born Margaret Christina McKeown in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland on June 20, 1935.  She would have been content to live her life in her small hometown but her mother sent her to the United States at the young age of 21.  She lived in Richmond, Virginia, Hamilton, Canada, Bronx, NY and for more than 50 years, in Lincoln Park, NJ.  

Margaretta worked for Miller and Rhodes Department Store, The Royal Trust Bank in Canada, the Bank of China on Wall Street in New York City, Lincoln Park Nursing Home and Public Library and Pequannock High School.  Caring for others was always important to her and she donated her time throughout her life to family, friends, her church and charitable causes. She saved her greatest strength for the love and protection of her children and grandchildren.

Margaretta was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Margaret, her brothers, Peadar, Noel and Tommy, and sisters, Bridie and Kay, and her husbands, Edward and Desmond.  She is survived by her brother, Billy, and sisters, Marie and Josephine, her cousin, Angela and her three children, Deborah, Terri, Brian and daughter-in-law, Jackie and her grandchildren, Meghan, Kelsey and Erin, as well as the countless other family, friends and lives she touched. 

Services to remember Margaretta will be held at Keri-Lozito in Lincoln Park, NJ on March 27 at 3-6pm.  Please join us for a family-led tribute at 4:30pm.  Margaretta will be cremated and laid to rest with her family in Saint Mary's Church Cemetery on the Warrenpoint Road in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland.  In lieu of flowers or donations, Margaretta has requested that her family and friends around the world perform three selfless acts of kindness to make another person's life lighter. Kindness, she would always say, is never forgotten.
