William Shellhorn Obituary
William Michael Shellhorn, 73, of Lincoln Park, New Jersey, formerly of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center with his daughter by his side, after facing colon and lung cancer and recent health complications.
Born on January 6, 1953, in New Jersey, he spent most of his life in Little Falls before moving to Lincoln Park. Throughout his life, he was known by different names to the people who loved him: to his family he was Michael, sharing a first name with his father, and to his friends he was Bill.
For many years, he worked in auto parts sales, where he was appreciated for his knowledge, reliability, and genuine willingness to help. Cars were one of his greatest joys, and he spent countless hours fixing, restoring, and talking about them.
A gentle, kind soul, he saw beauty in small things and treated people, animals, and nature with quiet respect. He loved animals and had pets for most of his life, including several he rescued right off the street and welcomed into his home. One small example of his spirit was the way he would carefully mow around the pretty wildflowers in the yard so they could keep blooming and brightening the lawn.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Preston, and his daughter, Melanie, who will forever cherish his steady presence, soft heart, and the many moments they shared. In keeping with his wishes, no services are planned.
Those who wish to honor his memory may do so with a donation to All Fur One, an animal rescue foundation, at Allfurone.org , 1747 Hooper Avenue, Suite 11, Toms River, NJ 08753 (732) 255-3871.
