Biagio DellaCerra passed away on November 29th, 2025 surrounded by his family at his home in North Haledon, New Jersey.
Ben, as he was known by family and friends, was born on February 14th, 1942 in Paterson, New Jersey, the son of the late Anna and Anthony Del-laCerra. He grew up in South Paterson, NJ, attending the Paterson school system, where he met the love of his life, Joyce. Ben was a carpenter from a young age, working for Homestead Roofing, with his father-in-law, and for Mahieu Construction, where he met his future business partner, Robert (Bob) Ricciardi. In May of 1976, Ben and Bob started Delric Construction Company, in North Haledon, New Jersey. Starting as residential, the company transitioned to commercial projects in 1980, moving onto public works in the 5 boroughs of NY in 2007. After over 40 devoted years at Delric, he retired in 2017/2018.
Ben and Joyce remained in Paterson for the early years of their marriage, moving to North Haledon in 1968. They resided in their home on Chestnut Avenue for many years before building and moving into their beautiful home in 2010. Ben was immensely proud of the home he built, calling it a place where all of his family could come and be together, which is what he always wanted.
His family was the most important thing to him, especially his seven granddaughters. He enjoyed quality time with his family, particularly around a dinner table, debating politics, or providing his financial wisdom. Most recently, he was immensely proud to have become a great-grandfather to, finally, a baby boy! Equally important to him was his love of travel. He looked forward his annual trips to his home-away-from-home, Aruba, with his family, where he could meet and reconnect with the friends he had met there over the years. More recently, he enjoyed trips to Cabo San Lucas where he made new memories with family and friends alike.
Ben was predeceased by his sister Emilia Chiddo (née DellaCerra) and her husband Gregory Chiddo, his sister Vincenza Amero (née DellaCerra), and his "brother from another mother," Anthony "Tony" Angelicola. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Joyce DellaCerra (née Rozell); his three children, Regina Norton and her husband Joseph, Teresa Ercan and her husband Elbrus, and Anthony DellaCerra and his wife Theresa; his seven granddaughters, Alyssa Ercan, Liana Ercan and her husband Albert John Ulinski, Brittany Norton and her fiancé John Keegan, Kayla Norton, and Emily, Sophia, and Isabelle DellaCerra. He is also survived by a great-grandson, Charles Ercan-Ulinski, a great-granddaughter on the way, Jacqueline Ercan-Ulinski, and 3 grand-dogs, Oliver, Chloe, and Eloise.
Friends may visit with the family at Keri-Lozito Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, New Jersey, 07035 on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025 from 4-8 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's RC Church, Prospect Park, at 10:30 AM (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) on Thursday, December 4th, 2025. Ben will be laid to rest at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, North Haledon PBA Local 292, and St. Paul's R.C. Church in Prospect Park Renovation Fund.
