Richard Thibodeau, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, surrounded by love. Born January 7, 1935, in New York, Richard lived a life devoted to his family and service to his community. Richard was the epitome of hard work, dedication, and love.
As a skilled mechanic, Richard spent more than 40 years of his life building his own business, caring for his family, and volunteering in his community. He was an active member in both the Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Gasoline Retailer Association. Whether helping with mechanical repairs, reminiscing, or attending Mass, in his spare time, he enjoyed the company of the Brothers and Sisters of Saint Benedict Center in Massachusetts. After his retirement, he could often be found spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even his great-great-grandchild. When not with his family sharing stories of his endless love for his wife and his Irish heritage, he could be found leisurely strolling the aisles of Costco.
Richard was a devoted husband, a loving father to 7, and an amazing Grandpa (Guppy) to 22 grandchildren. Richard is survived by his kids, Susan (David) Koch, Diane (Jeff) Chupa, David (Trixy) Thibodeau, Katie (Nick) Moreno, Michael (Tracy) Thibodeau, and Mary Pat Thibodeau. He is predeceased by his parents, Aimee and Martha Thibodeau, his brother Robert, his loving wife, Catherine, his son Tommy, his granddaughter Danielle, and his great-granddaughter Selah.
Richard's legacy is one of devotion to his Catholic faith, resilience, and love. His family invites all who knew him to his wake on Tuesday, August 12, from 3-7 pm at Keri-Lozito Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ with the funeral to follow on Wednesday, August 13, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, 51 West Franklin Avenue, Pequannock, NJ.
