Darren John Morris, 56, of Lincoln Park, NJ, passed away on May 25, 2025, at Chilton Medical Center, Pequannock, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Born in The Bronx, NY, to Madeline (Reed) Morris and the late Fred “Bro” Morris on January 20, 1969, Darren lived in Fairview, NJ, before the family moved to Wayne, where Darren was raised and attended Wayne Hills High School.
For more than 20 years, Darren worked as a professional truck driver, licensed to drive the smallest and largest of vehicles. Any truck in remotely drivable condition: Darren could drive it. For the past 7 years, he drove for Old Dominion Freight Line, winning multiple awards for impeccable safety records. He often served as a mentor to newer drivers, selected by management for his well-recognized expertise, thorough knowledge of the industry, and unwavering good nature.
Darren was passionate about his NY Giantsfootball; he was a NASCAR enthusiast; he was an animal lover. He would happily challenge anyone who claimed Michael Jordan was not the greatest athlete of all time. Darren was talented with all facets of auto mechanics, able to install sound systems, rebuild engines, restore cars beautifully. He was never too busy to change a friend’s oil, listen to their motor, try to diagnose then fix a problem. He also possessed extensive knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems, and what Darren didn’t know, he would often teach himself through sheer determination. First and foremost, Darren was a family man, a devoted husband and father, and this was the role he treasured above all else.
Darren was predeceased by his beloved first-born daughter, Dana Jordan, in 2015; by his father, Bro Morris, and one brother, Richard “Rick” Morris..
He is survived by his soulmate, his loving wife Karin (Shattuck) Morris, to whom he would be married 28 years on May 31st.. Darren also leaves two devoted daughters, Brooke and Sydney Morris; his loving mother, Madeline Morris; his father-inlaw, Norman Shattuck, his brother, Kenneth Shattuck and his wife, Jamie; brother Michael Morris; nephews Ryan and Ricky Morris, and James Shattuck; nieces Alexandra Davis, Kiara Morris, and Audrey Shattuck, along with many dear friends from all phases of his life.
