Leo P. Stasko passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on July 14, 1959 in Passaic, NJ, Leo lived in Lincoln Park with his family for the last 60 years.
He could often be found sitting out on his front porch watching the neighborhood, but his favorite pastime was catching a bite to eat at George’s Diner with his nephew, Roland or enjoying a cup of coffee there with his friends. Leo was a fiery spirit whose loud boisterous voice was matched only to the sound of roaring laughter. However, his softer side came out when he would be talking with his great-nephews and great-niece every time they came by the house.
Leo was predeceased by his parents, Kay and Leo Stasko. He is survived by his sisters Kathleen Vander Valk (James) and Mary Storms (Michael), nephews Roland Vander Valk (Elizabeth), Rory Vander Valk (Christie), Kathleen Vander Valk, Elizabeth Golembeski (Thomas), Jacquelyn Harter (Matthew), Brandon Storms and Connor Storms. He is also survived by several loving great-nephews and great nieces.
Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park, NJ on Thursday, May 15th, at 10am. Leo’s final resting place will be at Our Lady of the MagnificatCemetery, Kinnelon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Lincoln Park or the Knights of Columbus Council 943, Butler, NJ.
