Obituary of Maria E. Hemberger

Maria Hemberger, 87, of Lincoln Park, New Jersey passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025 at Chilton Memorial Hospital. Born in Markt Eisenstein, Czechoslovakia, she studied to be a bookkeeper.  She worked a number of different jobs in Germany as well as America after immigrating in 1956.

Her role as a mother figure began at a young age, helping care for her four younger sisters. Her exceptionally caring and patient nature served her well in 1956 when she started her own family with the birth of the first of her three children. Her dedication to her family was unmatched and was felt deeply by all. 

Maria leaves behind her husband of 70 years Wilhelm Hemberger; children Frank W. Hemberger and Susan (Vince) Mehringer; grandchildren Crystal Del Tufo, Steven (Meghan) Hemberger, Katrina (Brian Garrett) Mehringer, and Luke Mehringer; great grandchildren Daniel Del Tufo, Colton Hemberger, and Elowen Hemberger; sisters Anna Hild, Helen Falter, and Luise Beditsch. Maria was preceded in death by her daughter Sylvia Hemberger, grandson Frank C. Hemberger, and sister Gretl Beck.

Maria, or Oma as she was known to her loved ones, will be remembered for her fervent devotion to her family. Her love, patience, and thoughtfulness were gifts to everyone who knew her.

A private mass for her family will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, in accordance with her wishes.  In lieu of flowers, send donations to St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln Park, NJ.
