Obituary of Carl J Guida
Carl Guida passed away on April 3, 2025 in Teaneck, NJ due to complications of the heart. Carl lived a happy life born and raised in Haledon, NJ. He was passionate about helping others and spent 50 years working full-time at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ as a qualified Orderly. Top doctors would request his services in the operation room.
In his younger days, Carl was a long-standing member of the Haledon PAL as an Assistant Coach for the boys basketball team and for the little league/boys softballteams. He held numerous official positions in the PAL. He was a member of the Haledon Independent Republican Club, Cedar Cliff Church of Haledon, and Veterans Social Club of Haledon. Carl also served on the Haledon Recreation Commission.
Carl loved the NY Yankees and could be seen going to many games with his best friend, Robert Oshland Jr. Robert helped Carl in his later years, taking him to doctor appointments, baseball games, shopping, etc. Robert ensured that Carl was comfortable in retirement at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Totowa, NJ where Carl managed the mail delivery for all the residents there. Later, Robert saw to it that he was comfortable at the Brightside Manor in Teaneck, a home for adults needing assistance. The family is very grateful to Robert and his family for taking such good care of Carl.
Carl is predeceased by his parents Joseph and June Guida, his grandparents Henry and Lena Guabello and his Guida grandparents, his aunt and uncle Theresa and Leo Guabello, his uncle Hank Gallo, his cousin James Guabello and many great aunts and uncles. He is survived by his cousins, Carolyn Gallo, Fred Gallo, Bonnie Marchitto, Leo Guabello Jr., Jill DeMonti(Mike), Noelle Guabello (Lisa Fuller), his Aunt Virginia Gallo and their immediate families.
Funeral arrangements are made through the Deluca-Lozito Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass is offered on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Consolation, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne, NJ followed by interment at the Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Rd., in Totowa NJ.
