Obituary of Renee Schiffrin

Renee Schiffrin passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 97.  She is survived by her loving children: Marc and his wife Jennifer of Towaco, NJ, David of California, and Tanya of Mahwah, NJ, as well as many beloved cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Schiffrin, after 35 years of marriage. Born in New York City, she lived in Teaneck, NJ, Carlsbad, CA, and most recently lived for 22 years at Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, NJ.

Renee found comfort in the company of her friends and family. Although she was never the loudest person in the room, her quiet strength, deep kindness, and unwavering love always made a significant impact. Even if she didn’t speak up as often, her presence was felt in the most meaningful ways.

She has requested a graveside service at Baron Hirsch Cemetery in Staten Island, which will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Shiva calls to her children will be at Renee’s home in Cedar Crest, 708 Park View, Pompton Plains, NJ, for the following three days: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Renee was passionate about many causes and often made donations to support them. She strongly believed a healthy society should help its most vulnerable members. In her memory, contributions to either the ACLU (https://action.aclu.org/give/make-gift-aclu-honor-someone-special) or the Cedar Crest Village Resident Fund would be greatly appreciated.
