Obituary of Karen D. Chaffee

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Karen Chaffee on February 22, 2025, at the age of 52. Karen is survived by her beloved husband Doug Chaffee; her son Gavin Chaffee; her parents William and Emma Jimeno; her brother and sister-in-law Will and Allison Jimeno; her nieces Bianca and Olivia Jimeno; as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law Bob and Barbara Chaffee and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kristen Chaffee and Steve Flate.

Karen was born in Hackensack, NJ, in 1972, and graduated from Hackensack High School in 1990. She then attended Bloomfield College. In 2000, while working at Copelco Capital in Mahwah, NJ, she met the love of her life and soulmate Doug. They were married in 2004, and moved to Pompton Lakes, NJ, in 2006, where they made a beautiful home together and resided for the last 19 years. Karen’s dream was to be a mother and she was blessed to have her son Gavin, who was born in 2010. He brought so much joy to her life.

She most recently worked at Evernorth, a division of Cigna, as a contract advisor since 2008. Prior to that, she held similar positions at Toys R Us, Citigroup and Copelco Capital.

Karen held many titles: wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend. Karen left her family and friends with a lifetime of memories, that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. She had an affection for B-List horror movies that only she could love. Karen loved all types of music and would go to countless number of concerts with her husband and friends. She was the life of the party, even if she didn’t think she was.

Visiting will be held at Keri-Lozito Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 2-6 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 31 Pompton Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:30 AM. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH

 Burial will be private.

Karen was a kidney and pancreas transplant recipient. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a charitable donation to the Organ Transplant Division  at Hackensack University Medical Center in her name. And if you can, please register as an organ donor.
